Simply put, fractional ownership is sharing the ownership of an airplane.  In today's world the price of outright purchase of a factory new aircraft may be out of reach to many pilots and would-be aircraft owners.  Fractional ownership makes it possible for many pilots who would otherwise be unable to own their own plane to join the ranks of those who have access to an airplane at a much more affordable rate, eliminating the need to wait in line for rented aircraft, and to always be able to fly the same plane on each trip; which as we all know, allows for a much higher degree of safety.

As a fractional owner of an airplane, you would benefit from whatever plan you and the other owners decide to choose.  There are a number of different options available to fractional owners; listed here are a couple of the most popular.

1.  Owners could agree to be the only members to fly the airplane.

• The plane could be under management (Leading Edge Aviation provides this service.)

• Leading Edge would take care of the airplane, make sure its current on all FAA requirements for annuals, inspections and safety issues.

• Leading Edge takes the responsibility of scheduling the plane to other owners, refuels the plane and maintains it in full working condition, adhering to all safety regulations.

• Owners share in all maintenance costs, significantly reducing each owners share of such costs.

2. Owners could agree to "rent back" the airplane.

• Leading Edge Aviation would maintain the airplane under management, just as described above, maintaining all FAA currencies and liabilities.

• Leading Edge Aviation would then "rent-back" the plane to other pilots interested in flying your airplane.

• The benefits of course would be that you, as one of the owners of the airplane, would share in the profits from the rental of the aircraft; which could significantly reduce your cost to own and operate the aircraft yourself...who knows, under this plan, you may even post a profit.
